“He’s (or she’s) Just Not That Into You”

The problem with having to say this to someone is more about the fact that the person has to be told; it means that for a variety of reasons, she won’t accept the reality that someone may not be interested in her. And it’s this unwillingness – in fact, the intractability – that will make it hard for her in relationships going forward. It means that she (he) actually doesn’t accept that there are two people involved in whether a relationship goes forward.*

*(this is not applicable when it just happens once or twice in a person’s life; it’s when it’s a somewhat regular occurrence)
